Harrower Housing Information

University Commons Building

Georgia State University is pleased to offer on-campus housing options for personnel participating in the Harrower Summer Opera Workshop. Housing Requests must be received by 12:00pm on Friday, April 28 to reserve your accommodations. Submit your request using the online form below. Accommodations are limited, please reserve early.

Accommodations will be in the Georgia State University Commons, within walking distance of the School of Music. Rooms are apartment style shared with 1-3 other same-gender participants and shared bath(s) for the room. The housing fee for the Harrower Summer Opera Workshop is $1380.00 for the entirety of your stay, including meals.


Each suite comes with daily towel service, weekly linen service and meals included in the Piedmont North Dining Hall. Basic cleaning is the responsibility of the residents. Vacuum cleaners will be available for check-out at the front desk. Each room provides ethernet and cable connections; residents must bring their own computers or televisions. Every floor has a common area/lounge with a television and wireless internet connection.

Beds are extra long twin beds and require an extra long twin size sheet or the use of a flat sheet.  Shower curtains, toilet tissue, and garbage cans are provided.  The following items are provided, with replacement costs for the loss or damage to any item as listed:  Pillows ($7), Pillowcases ($3), Single sheet ($7), Blanket ($45), Towels ($6), Bath mat ($5), Washcloth ($2).

Check-in: Sunday, June 4, 2017 – beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Check-out: Monday, June 26, 2017 – by 12:00 p.m.

The University Housing provides a fully secured facility, with 24-hour monitored access. Each participant will be issued an access card for the building as well as keys for his or her room. You must have a government issued ID at check-in to receive your keys. Lost keys and access cards are the responsibility of the resident. Replacement access cards are $45; replacement keys are $100.

In addition, any damages assessed to the room at check-out will be charged to the resident. Georgia State University School of Music takes no responsibility for any damages to rooms occupied by participants.

Parking in University Housing parking decks is $25/week, and $5 for every additional day you are housed with University Housing.  Parking passes may be purchased through University Housing upon check-in.  Parking is not provided with your housing registration.

Alcohol Policy

The University adheres to all federal, state and local laws regarding the distribution, possession, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. It is illegal for anyone under 21 years of age to consume alcohol or possess alcohol or alcohol containers. Even in a room where a roommate is 21 or older, the residents or guests under the age of 21 MAY NOT consume or possess alcohol under any circumstances. Any known violation of this policy will result in an immediate loss of housing privileges and possible dismissal from the program.

Guest/Visitation Policy

All participants are considered the hosts of their guests, and as such must accompany their guests at all times. Guests must sign in, be picked up by their host upon arrival, and be walked out by their host when they depart. All guests need to have departed your room no later than 10:00 p.m.  Please be respectful of your roommate(s).

Quiet Hours

The office of Community Music Programs expects participants to adhere to the living and learning environment of Georgia State University and be respectful of other guests.  To support this environment the following quiet hours are enforced:

Sunday-Thursday:  10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Friday & Saturday:  10:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.

The University will host several other groups during your stay. There will be a wide variety of conference, summer camp, and work-study participants staying in housing at the same time. You are representing the School of Music at Georgia State University. We require you to be respectful of the other guests, maintain decorum and keep noise to a minimum while in the lobby, elevators, and/or hallways at all times. Failure to do so may jeopardize participation in the program.

Meal plans are included in your housing costs.  Meals will be served in the Piedmont North dining hall.

Dining hall hours are as follows:

Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (unavailable Saturdays and Sundays)
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Your housing form must be received by Friday, April 28, 2017. Your housing payment must be received by May 5, 2017. Please note, housing is not guaranteed until your payment is made.
